The Uniform Project will collect new and gently used uniforms from around Morecambe Bay.
Morecambe Bay Foodbank has been providing food to people in crisis in the area for over five years and we have increasingly seen a demand for school uniforms from families who cannot afford them.
The Uniform Project will collect new and gently used uniforms from around Morecambe Bay and distribute them to people who need them using the same voucher system that we use for food.
The Project will start in early 2018 with a pilot in a few primary schools in the area and if it is successful we will then roll this out further afield.
If you would like to donate to The Uniform Project then we are looking for new school uniform items such as black shoes, white socks, black or white tights, white polo shirts and grey pinafore dresses or trousers and new coats in all ages to be donated to our supermarket donation points. These can be found at:
- Asda Lancaster
- Tesco Carnforth
- Sainsbury’s Lancaster
- Sainsbury’s Morecambe
We will be collecting these items in over the next few weeks so that we can build up a stock of uniform and we will then be asking for specific things that we are short of as we start distributing them.
Gently used items (clean, with no stains, rips, tears or frayed edges please!) can be donated either directly to the Foodbank (09:00–15:00 Tuesdays and Fridays) which is in the West End Community Centre on the corner of Regent Road and Westminster Roads in Morecambe, or to The Arndale Centre where security staff will be happy to take in donations if our temporary pop up shop is not open.
We are also looking for volunteers who may want to help us run The Uniform Project so if you are interested please send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line being ‘Uniform Project’.
Thank you for your support!
