The Trussell Trust runs the largest network of food banks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis. Fourteen million people live below the poverty line and in the last year 1,9 million three-day emergency food supplies were distributed to people in crisis.
Arndale Morecambe Bay has named the Morecambe Bay Foodbank as its charity of the year for 2018. The shopping centre is located in the centre of Morecambe and each year nominates a local charity to support through regular events, collections and outreach.
Sarah Harrison, Centre Manager said: “Arndale Morecambe Bay is proud to support local communities which is why in 2018 we have chosen a charity at the heart of our community. Morecambe Bay Foodbank are the unsung heroes of this community, helping families and children across Morecambe and we are thrilled to be supporting them over the coming year.”
Annette Smith, Foodbank Manager said: We are so happy to be supported by Arndale Morecambe Bay in 2018! Their support will allow us to work on our outreach to clients as well as encourage more donations from the public and raise awareness generally about our work in the community.”
Arndale Morecambe Bay will give the proceeds from its regular bouncy castle days within the shopping centre too, which will help raise funds and awareness for the Foodbank which gives out over four tonnes of food to people every month.
Thank you so much to The Arndale Centre for their support!
