New foodbank van gets donations rolling in

9th June 2016

On June 10th last year we took delivery of our brand new Foodbank van, which we have bought from the Citroen dealership at Vantage, Morecambe.

The new vehicle will be of vital importance to the Foodbank’s work collecting donations from our permanent collection points at Tesco (Carnforth) and Asda and Sainsbury’s (Lancaster). It will also allow us to pick up crucial supplies from our regular donors like the children at Torrisholme Primary School (pictured with the van), and from all our special collections.

Annette Smith, Morecambe Bay Foodbank Project Coordinator, said,

Having our own van will really help us to get your donations to the people who need them quickly. As well as enabling us to collect regular donations and manage stocks between sites, we can now deliver food to our professional partners at agencies like local children’s centres, for emergency distribution to clients when our centre is closed. This frees them up, since they no longer have to travel to collect from us.

We now face the challenge of raising at least £150 per month to pay for the upkeep and maintenance of the van. Find out how you can help.
